Festival X.

You want a piece of me?

Festival X fast approaching. Starting tomorrow, actually later on today, Thursday. Staying up in the wee hours to print most of what's going to go up at EBA. This Friday (September 19th) I'll be at 951 Gladstone with a bunch of other great artist. I should be around from 6.30pm to about 7.30pm when I leave to go see a couple of shows downtown to later end up at Patrick Gordon's.

So what am I showing. Knowing we were going to be 25 artist in the same building, I was hoping to do something different and fun. I like to make people laugh. On a hungover Sunday afternoon I decided to give myself a haircut, trying to spice things up in my life. Although I didn't end up with the huge faux-hawk rat-tail my buddy Nick Lalonde gave me last time I photographed a hair cut, I ended up with some cool pics. I set-up the camera on a timer, with light straight above, a mirror bellow (didn't want to totally ruin my hair), and started shooting. Here's a little preview.

To keep this fun, I thought of selling the pics for $5. Who knew a piece of me would be that cheap? Oh yeah and thanks to PHG who fixed the back of my hair, which I had totally screwed up.

Fortune cookies.

One of my favourite reasons to eat at Asian restaurants is to get fortune cookies. I probably have 30 in my wallet. I just find them fun, and heck some days they can make your day. I found one on the ground yesterday and I tried to pick it up, after 5 tries I decided it should stay there. But I took a picture, which is blurry cause my camera phone can't focus that close.

"Defendez bien vos idées, même si elles ne sont pas populaires."

It was even french side up. Here's the english version via online translation: "Defend well your ideas, even if they are not popular"...as I use my best Asian acadian english accent.

Friday was a busy night and went to a lot of great events, Guerilla Magazine launch, The Soirée CD release and Fisher-Strikefoot-Wilson photo show. All were a blast! A lot of nice people out and about last night. I told Mr. Fouhse who's camera battery died, I would take a picture with my phone. Check out this high quality! Maybe I can get a client to pay me to shoot with the phone...

Most of the summer, I spent my time blogging about images I couldn't show. Well, I can show them now. First Ads I did for the Animation Festival that is starting next week. Worked on these with Eric Shallenberg at HBS Marketing. Eric kept telling me to stop moving the Froot Loops...

Here's an add running in post secondary school around Ontario. OPHA built a nice promotion campaign to encourage youngsters to be smart about drinking: Keep Control. This was a fun started at the Aloha room, then my kitchen. This one guy just kept telling hilarious stories.

All right, that's enough, probably my longest post. Last night a buddy told me more pictures less writing, I tried but I guess the two go hand in hand. Leaving with this Album name I found this morning, I thought it was funny. "If life gives you lemons, you paint that shit gold!"

Guys in suits.

This week, real busy with work and preparing for Festival X. Seems like September always brings new events and happenings. Got a nice article in Katharine Cornfield's blog. We went a couple of weeks ago because she liked my work and wanted to know more about me. Her post made me blush.

Also here's some images that went to print this month, all of sharply dress dudes.

First pic (not in print) of my buddy Dan who works on the hill.

Also got a cool pic in Ottawa Magazine.

Also don't miss the Guerilla Magazine launch. It's happening at EBA, 951 Gladstone from 7pm to 11pm. Sneak peek of my picture on the left.

You should also check out Sarah Fisher, Sarai Strikefoot, Michelle Wilson at the CAO, 2 Daly Street. Vernissage from 5pm to 8pm. And if your still looking for fun, The Soirée CD release at Babylon. Friday night all planed out.

Funny pics. Good friends.

So I felt like putting a couple of funny pics of good friends of mine. Something to make me a little more cheerry.

Pierre-Hugues lives in Hull. We often drink in Hull.

PHG's favourite tuque. And coughing. Cigarettes are bad.

Mike moved upstairs this month. This is his favourite tuque.
